How is it different from traditional methods?

Application development usually takes a long time and is very costly. In addition, the business stakeholder often has a hard time getting what they want from the solution. Aptify RAD empowers the business person to work with IT in a new way, helping define the solution and seeing it get created in front of their eyes. Developers still come into the picture in more complex apps and plug-in more specialized capabilities, but the business analyst and end-user stay plugged in and in charge.

Is Aptify RAD a code generator tool?

No, Aptify RAD is not a code generator. Code generators are still very developer centric – they take in requirements in different ways and spit out a mountain of complex code that requires a developer to understand, modify and manage. Usually these tools can help accelerate a project but due to the complexity of the generated code, they can often slow changes after the initial acceleration.

Aptify RAD takes an approach of providing a business person a set of graphical tools that define the majority of what an application does. When necessary (in more complex apps), a developer does come in, but they “plug-in” additional functionality, and the only code they are dealing with is their own. Aptify RAD consumes their plug-in and embeds it into the existing run-time framework. This approach not only speeds development but also eliminates the need to manage a huge set of generated code.
