Microsoft's Silverlight Strategy

Many of you have read recent blogs and articles questioning Microsoft’s commitment to Silverlight following statements made by Bob Muglia last week.  We’ve been following this closely and have been in touch with our contacts at Microsoft.  It’s clear that Muglia’s comments were taken out of context, and he has since posted a blog clarifying Microsoft’s strategy that Silverlight continues to be a strategic platform for rich line of business applications delivered over the web.

Muglia’s blog post is available here:

We still believe that Silverlight is the best rich internet application (RIA) technology available for delivering highly functional applications now and for the foreseeable future, and we remain committed to our Silverlight strategy.  In addition, we are closely following HTML 5 and we will support it when it becomes a suitable and compelling platform for Aptify and our customers.

I found this post while searching for Bob Muglia statements. I liken Silverlight to the future of mobile apps. It's very complimentary to ipad application development because of the open-source nature and all-around functionality built into it. I think when HTML5 comes out, all of us developers that are using Silverlight will be one step ahead of the rest of the app developers.

Thanks for the review! I agree with you regarding the limitations of the built-in tools when it comes to time tracking. If you’re finding that OmniFocus is more complex than you need you might give Things a try. Things is my task manager of choice and I find it’s a joy to use. There’s plenty of functionality under the hood (including repeating tasks), and it never seems to get in the way.
